Avon rugby club training for the new 2010/11 season will start on Tuesday 6th July at 7:15pm at their Hicks Field headquarters off the London Road at Batheaston and then continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays afterwards. With the Somerset Premier league having been expanded to 14 teams next season and strong clubs like Minehead and Weston Hornets joining, Avon's club coach Clive Book is looking to develop a larger squad to challenge for honours again. Kai Harwood has entered the history books as the first person to skipper the club for 5 years in a row and is hoping to build upon last season, where Avon only just missed out in the promotion play offs and also clinched the Bath Combination vase title. Adie Mutlow again captains the 2nd team, whilst Paul Kirby has taken over the reins as 2nd team coach from Chris Coombe who has had to step down through pressures of work. All new players are welcome to join Avon's well balanced squad for rugby training, general fitness and social friendships." Back To News
