Avon Under 11’s have finished off their best season to date with 2 final wins at local festivals. 18th April – Avonvale Festival Avon took the title they came runner up in last year with some of the best rugby they’d played all season. The first match of the day saw Avon come up against Trowbridge who they’d played in a fixture only the week before and had suffered the heaviest defeat ever for this team. However with a few of their key players back from “extended Easter holidays” the tables were turned and Avon came out winners. Further matches against Avonvale and CATS also went the same way so Avon were left to play Trowbridge again in the final. This showed signs of the previous year where Avon had won all their pool matches only to come unstuck in the final, but not this year! The boys put in their best performance of the day and came away 4-0 winners, going through all matches without conceding a try. 25th April – Bath Festival Avon U11’s got a late call from the Bath festival organisers asking if they could stand in for a team that had pulled out. So with the OK from Bath a quick SOS went out to our neighbours Walcot to ask for some reinforcements as some of the Avon players had made other arrangements for this date. With one training session under their belt the joint Avon and Walcot side turned up to a sunny Rec for what would turn out to be a memorable day. Read more in the U11's match reports Back To News
